If we want to build a community of “value and opportunity,” one in which we each feel we belong, and one in which all can prosper, then we need to make the effort to get to know one another and build relationships across neighborhoods and throughout our diverse communities. There are several opportunities for you to do just that in the next few weeks. Three of those are listed below:
=> February 23rd at 3 PM: Join others in the community at the 6th annual African American Read-In. Rolling Hills Library, Belt Branch Upper Story, 1906A N. Belt. Local readers will share a range of works by Black authors, including their own works. This is a great opportunity to celebrate and share in the rich diversity of our community.
=> February 25th at 6:30 PM: Attend the St. Joseph NAACP Monthly Meeting on Tuesday, January 28, 2024, 6:30pm at the Brookdale East Apts. Community Room, 3414 Messanie St. All are welcome and a wide range of community issues are discussed.
=> March 5th at 6:00 PM: Enjoy dinner with Latinos Connect and learn about Ramadan with guests from the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City. Dinner is served at the YWCA (304 N 8th St, St Joseph, MO 64501) at 6 PM and there is plenty of time to chat and get to know your neighbors before the program starts. Although dinner is free, registration is requested.
We are stronger as a community when we come together as a community.
