The featured speaker will be Dr. Latha Varghese, who will speak about current immigration issues and the work being done through her clinic at Stuber Health Center. The dinner will be held at the YWCA, 304 N 8th St, St Joseph, MO. Dinner is free but please register in advance here.

Join Latinos Connect for a free dinner and speaker at the YWCA. The speaker will be Miguel Arraga, an outstanding Venezuelan student from North Central Missouri College. You can register here. These dinners are a lot of fun and all are welcome. Come out and help connect with our community!

Ramadan is celebrated by our Muslim neighbors throughout March, and Latinos Connect has invited the Dialogue Institute of Kansas City to share a presentation on this holy month. The Dialogue Institute was founded more than 20 years ago by Turkish-Americans and works to promote peace through dialogue and mutual understanding. Dinner is served at the YWCA (304 N 8th St, St Joseph, MO 64501) at 6 PM. Although dinner is free, registration is requested.

You are invited to join with other members of the community for a free screening of the movie  Bad Faith: Christian Nationalists Holy War on Democracy” at the Trail Theater. This event is being hosted by the Racial Justice Ministry at First Christian Church. The event schedule is below and you can register here.

3:30 PM: Doors open! Arrive early to reserve your seat, grab some snacks at the concessions stand.

3:55 PM: Dr. W. A. Hedge, pastor of St. Francis Baptist Temple, will introduce the film.

4:00 PM: Screening of “Bad Faith,” a 90-minute documentary that exposes the threat of Christian Nationalism. To hear all voices we need to hear and understand those that seek to silence others. Then we are better able to invite and support those most in danger of being silenced.

5:30 PM: Post-film discussion led by Pastor Brian and Jess Piper, Executive Director of Blue Missouri.

Social hour begins at 5:30 and the ceremony begins at 6 pm at the St. Joseph Museums Black Archives Museum, 3406 Frederick Avenue.

The museum is presenting a “Show Me Missouri” presentation “The Kansas City Call & the Radical Message of the Women’s Page” with Dr. Elyssa Ford. Dr Ford, Northwest Missouri State University history professor. Her lecture is sponsored by Missouri Humanities and the Missouri Historical Society.
